BRIEF HISTORY OF THE
500TH BOMB SQUADRON ASSOCIATION

The 500th Bomb Squadron Association was organized in September, 1979. It was organized by a handful of original members of our namesake 500th Bomb Squadron, while attending a reunion of the parent 345th Bomb Group (Medium) in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Since that time, the Association's mission has been, and continues to be, to:

• perpetuate the history, legends and memories of the 500th Bomb Squadron.
• encourage and facilitate camaraderie among Association members and their families, and
• provide useful services for and protect the interests of those members, their dependents and their survivors.

The Association's original Constitution & Bylaws were approved by the membership on 1 March, 1982. In an effort to make them more responsive to the Association's mission, the Bylaws have since been updated and approved as follows:

• on 8 September, 1993 by the members present at the Association's seventh reunion in Atlanta, Georgia.
• on 12 September, 1999 by the members present at the Association's tenth reunion in Denver, Colorado.
• on 30 August, 2001 by the members present at the Association's eleventh reunion in Savannah, Georgia.
• on 1 September, 2003 by the members present at the Association's twelfth reunion in Reno, Nevada.
