Once again, greetings from Tucson...summer weather and flooding are in full swing! We hope you are enjoying some better weather in your corner of the world.
We are in the final push of preparation for the Rough Raiders' Fourteenth Biennial Reunion! The dates again are 30 August through 4 September 2007 at the Sheraton Tucson (AZ) Hotel & Suites, located at 5151 E. Grant.
Registration. 11-5 on the 2nd floor mezzanine level, outside the hospitality suite. The welcome reception will be from 4-6 in the hospitality suite. The hospitality suite will be open every night at 6 PM. It will also will be open daily as volunteers to staff it are available.
Room Reservations. We hope you have your
hotel reservations set with the Sheraton Hotel, Phone (800) 325-3535).
The Sheraton has made available two types of rooms for our reunion at special
rates: De Luxe guest rooms ($69/day) and two-room Suites ($79/day), both
types including a full American breakfast served daily. So...you must act
quickly. The cutoff date for these great rates was 31 July, 2007! If you
need help obtaining reservations, please contact Gary or me and we will
try to help from this end.

Transportation: Larry Hanna has volunteered to shuttle to and from airport... please call him to arrange your pick up time. His phone number is 734-449-5564. The hotel is only about 10 miles from the airport. If you know you will have a larger party arriving together, use the "Stage Coach Shuttle" which is located on the baggage claim level of the airport. Their phone number is (520) 889-1000 or www.arizonastagecoach.com for advance reservations. Prices: are one way- $21 round trip- $39 couples traveling together $25 one way or $47 round trip.
The registration form is located on the back page of this newsletter. Please fill it out as soon as possible and return to us so we will have a more accurate account of those that will be attending.
The Pima Air and Space Museum and Bone Yard.
Bus leaves at 8:30 AM. Maps will be available for those of you with cars,
who prefer to drive.We hope this tour will be interesting to you.
It is a tour by air-conditioned bus or you can take more time and
walk if you prefer. We are proud to announce there will be a B-25, in Hanger
3, along with other great, old planes for you to enjoy. The bone yard has
only post WWII planes. Please have pictured ID with you if you are planning
to attend the Davis Monthan Air Force Base. They will check ID's at the
front gate. Return around 4:00 PM.
Tombstone and the OK Corral is really a taste of the old west. Bus leaves at 9 AM. You will need sun screen and your camera. Don't forget to visit the "Rose Bush" and ride in the stagecoach. Lunch on your own. Return around 5:00 PM
Tubac and the historic Mission San Xavier. Bus leaves at 9:00 AM. This tour will also give you a feel for the beauty of this area. Art lovers will enjoy unique pieces and great souvenirs to take home. Lunch on your own. Return around 1:30 PM.
Business Meeting is at 10:00 AM in the Park Theater. Eat breakfast before the meeting.
Banguet in in the Park Grove Ballroom. Te cash bar begins at 6:00 PM, dinner is served at 6:30 PM and the program begins at 7:00 PM. Our guest speaker is Mr. Sprouse. He is 84 years old. He served in the Army Air Corp/Air Force for 30 years. He enlisted in 1943 and was an engine mechanic on the B-29 called "The Big Stink". This is the plane that dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima August 6, 1945. He has lived a very interesting life. I think his presentation to us will be very informative and interesting.
Thank you again to Don Jones. He has once again donated his time and money to the cause. Don has again supplied all the great pens that you will enjoy. Thank you to Dan Wade for working on having T-Shirts available for us again this year. We are so sorry that Dan will not be with us this year.
